Lou and His Tools

The other night when Lou came back from Scouts, he presented this coat hanger to me made from a branch from a gum tree that had been varnished. I really love the natural look and I might be borrowing it to model some if my knitting projects in the future.

I thought, wouldn't that be lovely made with a peace of drift wood. I'll be on the look out when I'm back down the South Coast for a nicely shaped piece.

Not last Christmas but the Christmas before, Lou got this tool set with real little tools made of wood and metal (no plastic in this set). Lou is trying to make a wooden sword. He drew a pattern, clamped the wood to the table and used his saw to try cutting around the template that he drew.

And he has been sanding it smooth. It is still a work in process, but it is great seeing him  designing and creating.

Wow Lou ! That really is a wonderful set of tools !
(love the little safety catches so the tools won't travel around in the box ;-) !)
I think you're going to be a real craftsman !!!
